It is a sodium salt of fatty acids and the most important additive for manufacturing soap bars. It develops from the neutralization of fatty acid and saponification of methyl esters, neutral fats, and oil.

A typical blend ratio would be 80:20 of palm oil: palm kernel oil or coconut oil. In the market, there are other ratios like 70:30, 90:10, and 60:40 available too.
